In an impressively tight finish, Frenchman Kauli Vaast secured the European surfing slot for Paris 2024.
When the final of the repechage arrived, with the Spaniard Gonzalo Gutierrez, the Frenchman placed third and the Spaniard fourth.
Gutierrez had the opportunity to qualify, needing just over four points, but he fell while making the bottom turn of the last maneuver.
The difference in scores was 10,56 versus 9,77.
Mexican Alan Cleland won the series and Miguel Tudela came in second place, both advancing to the grand final where they will face Kanoa Igarashi and Lucca Mesinas.
