IOC approves Teahupoo as host city for surfing in Paris 2024

The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee has approved the waves of Teahupoo as the venue for the surfing event of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the ISA reported today in a press release.

The Polynesia spot had previously been chosen by the organizing committee ahead of Hossegor, Biarritz, La Torche and Lacanau and sent to the IOC for approval.

According to a press release during the competition, the athletes' village will be made up of modular temporary houses, among other initiatives that will ensure that the games are environmentally friendly.

ISA President Fernando Aguerre said: “We worked closely with the Paris 2024 team to select the location for the surfing competition. Tahiti seemed exceptional, offering the athletes and the sport spectacular conditions for optimal competition.”
