The waves of Punta de Lobos will host for the sixth consecutive time the Maui and Sons Pichilemu Women's Pro, QS 1500 that brings together some of the best surfers in the region and the world.
The tournament was confirmed last Friday through a press release from WSL Latin America and will take place between Thursday, October 31 and Saturday, November 2.
The event will be crucial in determining the South American professional champion, whose ranking is led by the Peruvian Daniella Rosas and has the Chilean Lorena Fica in second place.
These two are followed by Mimi Barona, Taina Hinckel and Lucía Indurain in that order.
It will also be the last South American ranking, since starting next year the rest of the Latin American events will join the fight.
“In recent years we have had an excellent participation of top-level athletes. Women's surfing is gaining more and more followers every day and that is why we comply with all the international standards and requirements to position Chile not only as an excellent tourist destination but also with the oceanic geography necessary to be able to develop this and other sporting events,” one of the organizers, Tito Loyola, told the WSL.

Meanwhile, Giancarlo Giglio, marketing manager of Maui and Sons Chile, said: “Chile is already a mandatory event for the world surfing championship and that is why every year we try to pleasantly surprise all the surfers and athletes.”
For her part, Trinidad Segura, a former professional surfer and also a competitor, reported that for the first time the tournament has the support of the Regional Government of the O'Higgins region, the Ministry of Sports and its Seremia of the region.
