The Olympic Games series format explained
The ISA has just announced how the Olympic Games series will progress
In surfing at Paris 2024, Olympic surfers who win their round 1 heat will advance directly to round 3 and second and third place will drop to the elimination round.
This will be formed by combining the seeding (the positions in the 2024 ISA World Surfing Games in Puerto Rico) and the positioning in each series.
This means that the second seed will not face a second seed. The best second seed will face the worst third seed, and the worst second seed will face the best third seed.
Then, when the time comes to do the round 3 series, everyone will be seeded again and this time the position in the series will not be taken into account (because in the elimination round there will be two human beings, the one who loses is out and the one who advances is only one).
So there will be 16 surfers, and the best seed will go against the worst, the second best against the second worst and so on.
Once this round 3 arrives, which can also be called the round of XNUMX, the Brackets format will be followed with the quarterfinals and semis following their order of crossings as if it were the Libertadores or even the WSL.
