The Brazilian surf team was the only one to survive the first day of the Pan American surfing championship, allowing its entire team to stay alive in the tournament.

In small but consistent waves with good formation breaking at Playa Venao, Luis Diniz, Leonardo Gimenes, Aline Adisaka and Gabriela Sztamfater overcame the two rounds they entered the water today and made it to the semi-finals.

Other teams that had good performances were Argentina and Puerto Rico, which still have three of their SUPers alive and are therefore second in the ranking. Lucía Cosoleto, Natalia de la Llama and Geronimo Rogers on the side of the Albicelestes and Max Torres, Dave de Armas and Nimsay García on the side of the Puerto Ricans.

The powerful Peruvian team saw two of its participants fall but kept Tamil Martino and Vania Torres alive, who had good performances. The Mexicans were in the same situation, as Karen Jacobson and Felipe Rodriguez also managed to advance to the semifinals. The latter had the best score of the day, 16,67 (9+7,67).

The semi-finals will be closed by Ecuadorian Lisette Prado and Chilean Franco Bono.

Below is how the athletes were ranked and the complete overall team ranking.

Tomorrow the day begins with Longboard, which will be contested for two rounds, followed by the SUP Surf semi-finals in the water, which will crown the champions on Wednesday.
