They keep all their competitors alive in the event; after rounds 1 and 2 of longboard and the SUP semis, Peru moved up to second, Argentina third and Mexico is fourth.
After day 2 of the Pan American surfing competition, the Brazilian surfing team continues to lead the overall team ranking with a perfect potential score possible since its 20 competitors are still alive in the tournament.
Rounds 1 and 2 of longboard and the SUP Surf semi-finals took place and Brazil managed to get Rodrigo Sphaier, Jefson Silva, Chloé Calmon and Atalanta Batista into the longboard semis and Aline Adisaka, Gabriela Szetpfater, Luiz Diniz and Leonardo Gimenes into their respective SUP finals.
With 18 of 20 competitors still alive in the tournament, Peru, which yesterday finished the day in fourth place after losing two SUP surfers, kept all of its longboarders alive and its two SUP surfers and moved up to second position; Tamil Martino and Vania Torres made it to their grand finals and Mafer Reyes, Ana Camila Kaspar, Lucas Garrido Lecca and Piccolo Clemente made it to the longboard semis.
For its part, Argentina, which had lost only one athlete yesterday, saw two SUP surfers and three longboarders fall today and therefore fell to third place (with 14 athletes still alive); the country's heroine on the day was Lucía Cosoleto, who advanced to the SUP surfing final and the longboard semi-finals.
Close behind were the Mexicans, who had a finalist in SUP Surf with Felipe Rodríguez and have the same number of living athletes as Argentina, 14.
A Uruguay that did not come with a full team but competed in all divisions rose to the top 5 thanks to the performances of its two longboarders, Julián Schweizer and Nacho Pignataro, who won their matches and made it to the semi-finals.
