The Philippines is emerging as a strong candidate for the next stage of the CT.
The world awaits the official announcement, but Cloud 9 is strongly rumored to be the surprise stage of the tour; Medina apparently didn't like it, saying that "it's a joke."
Several media outlets, social media comments, and rumors circulating via text messages have suggested that the new WSL stage will be in the Philippines, and the first wave that comes to mind is the right-hand barrels of Cloud 9.
Pro Surf Media, formerly known as Old Surf Dead, directly posted on their stories that Cloud 9 will be the CT wave. Without citing any sources, they just made the claim.
Meanwhile, on AOS Mídia, the Brazilian website of journalist Ader Oliveira, which has broken more than one story, especially about the WSL, the entire post was filled with photos of Cloud 9 and suggested that one of the possible stages was in the Philippines.
Medina then commented on the post, calling it "a joke," expressing his opposition to the stage. Whether it's because it's a right-wing issue or because there are too many stages, it's unclear. It's also unclear if the joke is actually AOS's post.
But the key factor is economic and related to trade relations between the WSL and the Philippine government, which has been growing within the organization for years and achieving more and more stages.
Longboard, QS International, Junior World Championship, all events that have been taking place in the country thanks to a contract that extended the country's presence in the WSL to two years.
The announcement will come at any moment.
