For Puro Surf, surfing is not just a sport, it is much more than that, it is a lifestyle and just like in life, the physical aspect is not the only one that needs to be worked on, trained and strengthened. It is due to our vision of surfing that we have designed a training program based on four key pillars: Body, mind, technique and tactics.

Each of these pillars is developed through a set of classes that take place weekly at the academy facilities installed in front of the Zonte surf break.

Breathing and meditation:

It is a discipline that uses awareness of the respiratory process as its main tool. From the moment the air enters the nostrils and reaches the lungs, participants become aware of the sensations, the rhythm, the muscles involved, and the difference between inhaling and exhaling.

This process achieves a mental state that allows us to be relaxed and awake, to perceive the environment more vividly, and will also improve our ability to concentrate, making us more capable of living in the present moment and responding creatively to each occasion.

Functional physical training:

The exercises are adapted to personal needs, aimed at improving daily functions and increasing the quality of life of those who practice them.

It is a very effective personal training, in which the exercises are adapted to personal needs aimed at improving daily functions and increasing the quality of life of those who practice it. They are multi-joint and multi-muscle exercises that seek to develop the intelligence of human movement.

Natural Gymnastics

Through multiple breathing techniques, Brazilian jiu-jitsu movements, hatha yoga and the natural movements of animals, this training is able to develop strength, endurance and muscle power.

It is a discipline that uses the weight of our own body as a fundamental tool. Through multiple breathing techniques, Brazilian jiu-jitsu movements, hatha yoga and the natural movements of animals, this training is capable of developing strength, endurance and muscular power, as well as being a work of mobility and flexibility of the body.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - Open Mat

Balance, strength, explosion are just some of the skills you will develop if you train this martial art, all of them perfect complements for surfing.

It is a Brazilian martial art and self-defense system. Focused on hand-to-hand combat, it consists of taking the opponent to the ground by means of a takedown. And once there, engaging in a grappling match.

The sessions range from cardiovascular exercise to strength, breathing, endurance and stretching. This makes it a very complete workout. Balance, strength, explosion are just some of the skills you will develop if you train this martial art, all of them perfect complements for surfing.

Group skate class

The concrete wave allows to imitate movements that are later performed in the sea.

Skateboarding gives surfers muscle memory on the board, greatly improves balance, and maneuvers on the concrete wave can be practiced countless times until the technique is perfected; perfection that will be transcribed in the next surfing session.

Group Video Coaching

The consensus is that filming and watching sessions to identify errors is key to improving your surfing level.

The best tool for improving surfers' technique is video coaching. Have you ever watched yourself surfing on video? Surfing is a sport in which improving technique becomes a very difficult task due to the short period of time surfers have to think about what they are doing. That is why watching ourselves over and over again is the essential help to understand what we are really doing on the waves and how to correct bad habits.

Yoga

There is no good surfing without balance, strength and an attentive mind.

There is no good surfing if there is no balance, strength and an attentive mind. If there is no communion between your mind and the sea. Through the practice of Yoga you will be able to improve and reinforce certain qualities that are necessary when surfing.

And down the stairs, in Puro Surf, is El Zonte always breaking perfectly.

Through our weekly surf training plan we achieve the following objectives:

Body: We prepare your body through specific exercise routines and stretching. You will perform the movements with the correct technique, and you will have better performance in your sessions and also avoid injuries.

Mind: We strengthen your mind to achieve better performances in the water. Focus on the present, without losing sight of the objective, and positively face the challenges that arise along the way.

Technique: We teach the optimal technique for each maneuver. You will follow a series of steps that will give you the same result every time, thus increasing the consistency of each surf session.

Tactic: We help you get the most out of your sessions by understanding a wide range of variables. From selecting the right board for the conditions present, to understanding your position in the lineup, and for some, even preparing for competition. Having clear goals every time you get in the water will improve your surf session tenfold.
