The WSL has announced the Oi Rio Pro series, stage 8 of the Championship Tour, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from June 23-30.

Peruvian Miguel Tudela will face Filipe Toledo and Samuel Pupo; Peruvian Sol Aguirre will face Carissa Moore and Courtney Conlogue and Costa Rican Brisa Hennessy will face Lakey Peterson and Tatiana Weston-Webb.

With this new, reduced format, and a group of heavyweight invitees who appear to be lower seeded, all the series look extremely competitive. To name one: SERIES 5: Kanoa Igarashi (JPN), Connor O'Leary (AUS), Gabriel Medina (BRA).

From the men's round 1 this is the one that on paper looks like the least competitive:
SERIES 7: Callum Robson (AUS), Caio Ibelli (BRA), Jadson Andre (BRA)

Among the ladies, one of the new features is the return of Tyler Wright after not being present at G-Land or in El Salvador.
