Tesla board is now selling on the secondary market for $4500
The first 200 to 1500 were sold out in a few hours.
Electric vehicle and high-tech company Tesla has teamed up with ...Lost Surfboards to create a surfboard that looks more like a collector's item than a board Slater will be using next week in Chopes, several US media reported.
Measuring 6'8, 20.5” and 2 7/8” (not ideal for high-performance surfing) and costing a hefty $1500, this is an epoxy board with carbon fiber on the deck and finishes similar to Tesla vehicles: a mix of matte and shiny red and black.
The 200 boards created were sold in a single day, proving that anything with the Tesla stamp can be sold to those with enough purchasing power.
Shortly after the product sold out, some boards appeared for sale on sites like eBay at three times the price. They went from 1500 to 4500 in just a few minutes.
Who bought a board that has nothing special about it other than the brand and the size of which is the same for everyone? Geeks like the one seen in the tweet below, Marques Brownlee, who wrote: "No I don't surf but it's matte red and black so I bought one."
