The Three Sisters Team

In a historic event, Máxima, Candelaria and Valentina Resano are Nicaragua in the youth world championship. They make up half of the team because each one competes in two categories.

At 9, 12 and 14 years old, Valentina, Candelaria and Máxima Resano are the entire Nicaraguan team at the ISA Junior World Championships that began yesterday in Huntington Beach, California.

Each one will compete in two categories and, with the surfing they have, they will surely be higher in the ranking than several nations that go with different participants.

This is the first time something like this has happened. Two siblings have competed in other ISA events (Valen and Cande themselves participated in this event last year), but the fact that there are three of them making up half the team is unique.

Obviously, the sociopolitical situation in Nicaragua, a country that is constantly showing new talents, has not allowed the team to travel to California with more competitors.

These three are daughters of the prominent Argentine big rider, based in Nicaragua, Manny Resano, the man when it comes to the outside of Popoyo and a great standout surfing Mavericks.

Talking to DUKE about the event that has just started, Resano commented that her girls are motivated. She referred to this note published in DUKE She said Valen's goal is to advance one month from last year, when she was ranked 13th, which would put her in the top 10.

“But be careful, Cande could surprise us. She's surfing solidly and has nothing to lose!” Manny exclaimed.

And what about the future of Máxima, with those two sisters as a reference, and so much time to evolve, we will have to wait to see her in the CT. Her, or, why not, all three!
