The United States has chosen the Waco pool as the official training center for the Olympics

Although Olympic surfing will be in the sea, another team chose chlorine to practice for the upcoming tournaments

USA Surfing, the governing authority of surfing in the United States, announced that BSR Surf Resort in Waco, Texas will be the official training site for the United States junior team competing in the ISA World Junior Surfing Championship and for surfers selected for the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.

Paradoxically, for a tournament that will take place in the ocean (Olympic surfing will be in Shida Shita, Japan), this is the second team to adopt a pool as a training camp. Team Australia spent almost a week surfing with several of its athletes in Slater's pool and now the athletes who are set to surf for the United States have left and will continue to go to Texas.

USA Surfing CEO Greg Cruse explained: "With the ability to produce three waves per minute at 12-second intervals and different configurations possible at the touch of a button, including a perfect aerial section, this wave offers US surf teams the opportunity to train in an environment that well mimics the ocean. Technology allows for repeatable, custom-made waves that are perfect for training," he added.

Meanwhile, the park's development director, Tony Finn, did not hide his enthusiasm for the new guests at his pool: "Our wave is super fun and infinitely adjustable. We can simulate the conditions of multiple waves around the world. We are very happy to be an official training site for USA Surfing."
