The United States started the ISA SUP and Paddleboard World Championship in perfect fashion

They won two out of two in the speed races; the locals got their first medal thanks to Maricarmen Rivera who won bronze

The start of the ISA SUP and Paddleboard World Championship started perfectly for the United States today, who claimed the two golds up for grabs today; Connor Baxter and April Zlig won the speed races with relative ease.

After winning the quarterfinals and semi-finals, both athletes repeated. Baxter left behind Noic Garrioud of France, David Leao of Brazil and Christian Anderson of Denmark.

On the women's side, April Zlig defeated Caroline Küntzel of Denmark who came in second, Maricarmen Rivera of Puerto Rico who came in third, and Cecilia Pampinella of Italy who came in fourth.

With this, the locals secured their first medal. Rivera had won bronze in Lima 2019.

The United States team started in clear first place in the team cup and Denmark in second.
