Hours after being crowned Latin champion in El Salvador, the Punta del Este native celebrated his second national championship title at home

Lucas Madrid was crowned Latin American surfing champion on Saturday and Uruguayan champion on Sunday, after his main rival, Sebastián Olarte, did not win the fifth stage of the national competition that took place today at La Plage in Punta del Este.
Olarte was the only one who could catch Madrid if he won this and the next stage, but since he finished third it was impossible for anyone to catch him and that's why he celebrated.
The regular footer had won three stages and had placed second in another of the four of six stages that make up the ranking.
With this he closed a spectacular weekend, which saw him crowned in El Salvador and after taking a couple of night flights, arrive home to celebrate another Uruguayan championship.
The stage, which took place in spectacular waves, was won by the legendary Luisma Iturria, with Fran Morosini in second place, Olarte in third and Santiago Madrid in fourth.
The first division of the Uruguayan circuit closes with one more stage, the sixth, which will take place in the following weeks.
