WSL Junior World Champions to be crowned in Taiwan

Immediately after defining the longboard titles, the waves of Jinzun Harbour will welcome the best young riders on the planet.

The WSL has just announced that the Junior World Championships, which have been held in Australia for several years now, will take place in Jinzun Harbour, Taiwan from December 1st to 9th, immediately after the World Longboard Champions are determined at the same location.

“The waves at Jinzun Harbour look high performance so I’m really excited to have the best juniors on the planet battling it out there for the title,” said WSL Commissioner Travis Logie.

The two events, the longboard world championship and the youth championship, will form the 2018 edition of the Taiwan Open of Surfing, which has been held for seven years with QS events.

Taitung County Governor Justin Huang, the main sponsor of the event, was delighted with the development and stressed that this edition of the event will be the largest in history.

Some of the surfers who have already qualified for the world championship are Nadia Erostarbe from Spain and Marco Mignot from Mexico and France. The South American qualifier remains to be defined, with its only stage this weekend in Lobitos.
