For the second consecutive year, the waves of Urbiztondo Beach in San Juan, Philippines, will host the WSL Junior World Championships, the WSL announced in a press release today.

The 2025 world champions will be determined between January 11 and 18, 2026, at that perfect right-hand point break that is one of the capitals of Philippine surfing.

Andrew Stark, WSL APAC President, stated: “The WSL is thrilled to be returning to the Philippines for the 2025 World Junior Championships. The Philippine surfing scene is growing at a rapid pace, and it’s incredible to see the number of WSL events scheduled for 2026 across multiple tours. The 2024 World Junior Championships saw incredible performances from the next generation of Championship Tour contenders in an exciting new venue. It will be fantastic to return in 2026 and see the next generation put on a great show in the Philippines. We are grateful to our partners Purefoods-Hormel and Magnolia Inc. We look forward to a fruitful collaboration for this event and in the future.”

According to the WSL, Purefoods-Hormel and Magnolia Inc. are the main sponsors of the event, which brings together the top finishers from each region, up to 20 years old.

Once again, the top 24 men and women from seven different regions around the world will compete, two men and two women per region. The rest will be wildcards, including two that were previously reported to go to the local Filipinos.

Last year's event was won by Bronson Meidi of Indonesia and Luana Silva of Brazil. Arena Rodríguez of Peru and Dylan Donegan of Spain placed third.
