A sort of constructors' table, Formula 1 style
Note submitted by Vissla
The WSL announced the launch of the shaper rankings, a kind of WSL leaderboard that aims to determine the best high-performance shaper year after year.
To do this, the best results of the different manufacturers between women and men will be combined in the CT that places in the quarterfinals or better in the 10 stages of the WSL regional season.
“The board building community is one of the most important in surfing and those who support CT surfers are designing and innovating at the highest level of the sport,” said Dave Prodan, WSL Chief Strategy Officer. “Their time, energy and investment should be recognized and celebrated.”
Vissla founder Paul Naude said: “Board building has always been part of Vissla’s DNA. They are the cornerstone of the surfing industry and together with the WSL we are happy to create a platform that will highlight the exceptional work of board builders in advancing surfing excellence.”
Before the season started, 18 shapers are used by CT surfers and they will be competing against each other in this ranking of builders.
It is not specified how many shapers will count towards the final ranking in the case of those that are used by many CT surfers.
