The best 24 were defined on day 1 of the Pan American

A day of action and tension was experienced today in Punta Rocas with the start of the Pan American surfing competitions and the completion of the women's round 1 of the tournament.

The event will not have a play-off, so the competitors will go all out, series by series, to qualify for Lima 2019.

Punta Rocas broke with fun one-meter waves, more than enough for the ladies of the continent to show what they know.

The best performance of the day was by Puerto Rican Tia Blanco, who scored 16,84 in her series. The defending champion, Ornella Pellizzari She scored 15,67 to beat none other than the recently qualified for the CT, the Costa Rican Hennessy Breeze, which happened in second.

Also breaking through, with totals greater than 14 points, were Sofía Mulanovich (PER), Dominic Barona (ECU) and Bethany Zelasko (CAN).
