The best photos of a high-voltage day in El Salvador

With this surfing and these waves, the eight who will fight for the Latin title tomorrow were defined.

Special coverage presented by Surf City El Salvador -

The waves grew, the best surfers of the event went into the water, 24 heats were held, the result was, for sure, one of the best days of surfing in 2020.

There are eight surfers who will define the tournament tomorrow: Mesinas, Muñoz, Camarena and Satt in the men's division and Presti, Ribeiro, Gómez and Indurain in the men's division.

Below are photos by legendary French photographer Philippe Demarsan.

Manuel Selman surfed so well in the event and in free surfing that it's strange that he didn't make it to the final day. He lost his round of 16 to Tiago Carrique in a heat with very few waves. All photos: Phiippe Demarsan
Solid at astronomical levels, Lucca Mesinas advanced to the semis from round 1 and will now face Carlos Muñoz in a clash of titans.
The revelation of the event, Tiago Carrique, was very close to making it to the semis, beating Mesinas himself, he had to land a very good aerial that he was close to completing.
The great local star, Porfirio Miranda, and those curves, that power surfing mixed with modern surfing. He got through his round 4 heat calmly but then he couldn't beat Lucca Mesinas. Mind you, he scored 14,83 in the heat that left him out of the event. An important consistency.
Nico Díaz attacks the lip of a perfect Bocana. The young Chilean could not get past his round 4 series against Lucca Mesinas and Tiago Carrique.
It was a roller coaster ride for Bryan Perez today. He made it through rounds 4 and 5 but couldn't beat Carlos Muñoz in a series that had a bit of controversy.

Great surfing from Guga Dvorquez. Letting his surfing do the talking, he managed to reach the quarterfinals, where he was unable to beat Oli Camarena.
Oli Camarena will stay in El Salvador until the 2021 ISA World Championships, which will qualify him for Tokyo 2021. With the surfing he has here now and all the training he has ahead of him, the Olympic dream seems very real.
A very close heat, perhaps the most disputed of the event, left the defending champion, Noe Mar McGonagle, who surfed and competed very well, out of the event. An effort by Guille Satt in the last minute of the heat left him out of the event.
Manuel Rivas made his name in Latin surfing at this event. With very good surfing, the Salvadoran advanced from round 1 to round 4 and felt the pressure that did not let him move forward. But he is a junior and has time. And he has a lot of waves.
Passeri beat Rivas and advanced to round 5 by making good moves that he later repeated against Guille Satt, but the Chilean was more solid.
Leon Glatzer gradually built his home in the event, passing heats without showing the best of his surfing. He reached the round of 17,83 where he could not beat his neighbor, Noe Mar McGonagle, who scored XNUMX.
What a fierce young Chilean Estela López Cross. She didn't find the form she showed yesterday, but she showed that she has the talent to play guitar. A name to keep in mind.
Another name to keep in mind: Mia Calderón
Analí Gómez broke through, winning her series against Leilani McGonagle and tomorrow she will face Lucía Indurain.
Leilani McGonagle surfed well in her heat against Analí Gómez but made bad decisions and left the door open for the Peruvian to win.
Asaya Brusa from Mexico fought Lucia Indurain from Argentina, losing by 0,7.
Mesinas seems not to have felt the challenge of surfing at low tide in La Bocana and tore it up as if he were at Lowers.
A happy Panamanian, his name is Jean Carlo "Oli Camarena" González.
This wave was the one that gave Carlos Muñoz the ticket to the semifinals, which due to a confusing situation of priority ended up being for the Costa Rican and not for the Salvadoran Bryan Pérez. There are no surfing championships if there are no disputed situations.
An example of the difficult conditions of the afternoon, those steps, the current coming in strong, and Oli Camarena still attacking.
