Carlos Mario Zapata started his journey in the event in round 2 and is now in round 5 thanks to an impeccable use of his backside.
Villarán started his series slowly, he was unable to put together a good series of maneuvers until he waited for the good one, he surfed it well and then backed it up with a better one. He finished second and tomorrow he goes to round 4.
Heitor Alves pulled off one of the best moves of the event today, spinning 360 degrees in a heavy section to win his heat. The former CT is happy to be in Peru and it shows.
Former CT Alex Ribeiro won in Australia, came to Chile ranked fifth and will be a tough opponent to beat.
Lele Usuna broke through in his series, found the good ones and in the best one he attacked heavy sections, one after the other to get into round 5 and already secure the best result of a year that started slowly for him.
Miguel Tudela did not have it easy and barely made it through his series. The local idol made it to the final stages.
Samuel Pupo continues to show that he is in tune with the sea. He is already in round 4 and wants more.
Ben Coffey of the United States arrived as a relative unknown and with tremendous grace, combining speed with precision, he won his heat with a show. All photos: WSL/Malaver
