A historic event took place in the Galapagos between Thursday and Saturday. Historic because the QS had never reached the archipelago, but also historic because of the quality of the waves.

Tongo Reef broke solid and perfect for three days, like a machine, with perfect wind and non-stop waves.

That ability of Miguel Tudela to make the most powerful and stylish curve in one moment and in the next section fly like this:

Manuel Selman faced Miguel Tudela in the semis. It was a battle of titans, but the Peruvian ended up winning. The third result for the Chilean was the best result of his ranking in the WSL Latin America (the victory in the Dominican Republic does not count towards this ranking). 
Young Ryan Kainalo is a good contender in these seas, serious surfing, flows well, buries edges and goes from bottom to lip with power and speed. He placed second.
Given the similarity of Tongo's waves to those at home, Sol Aguirre had half the championship won before it even started, but she had to go and win. And she went and did.
Mimi Barona surfed with the maturity that characterizes her and passed all her heats until meeting Aguirre in the grand final.
Vitor Ferreira had the best score of Day 1 and had a good run of points in the tournament until he met Ryan Kainalo in the semis.
