The semi-finalists of the event were defined in incredible waves.

The swell finally entered Punta Roca, with a strong offshore wind but with waves that were impressive at times.

Jordy Smith made the most of the best moment in the sea, putting in two good tubes and filling those walls with maneuvers.

The semis were as follows:

WOMEN:

HEAT 1: Caitlin Simmers (USA) vs. Gabriela Bryan (HAW)
HEAT 2: Molly Picklum (AUS) vs. Isabella Nichols (AUS)

MENS:

HEAT 1: Matthew McGillivray (RSA) vs. Crosby Colapinto (USA)
HEAT 2: Jordy Smith (RSA) vs. Cole Houshmand (USA)

 

Fioravanti had a good series in one of the best moments of the sea but he found himself with an inspired Jordy Smith
Alan attempted this aerial but failed to complete it. This was one of the keys to his defeat against Miguel Pupo.

Ethan Ewing lost in incredible fashion. With 10 seconds left, Crosby Colapinto opened the door for him, needing six stitches, but he fell on the second maneuver.
Isabella Nichols stayed in El Salvador and didn't go to her sister's wedding, which made her cry on TV, but at least she made it count, reaching the semifinals.

Matthew McGillivray reached the semi-finals and there are more South Africans than Brazilians in the event.
With this floater, Miguel Pupo added 8,5 points, which were key to beating Alan Cleland.
