Slater's lost board in Haleiwa was found in the middle of the sea

Five miles off the coast, but in western Oahu, the best ever said it's the third time it's happened to him

Kelly Slater lost his board surfing Haleiwa in the late afternoon of the second day of the Billabong Pro Pipeline on February 2, and yesterday, a social media post from a rider named Monica returned it to him.

“Kelly, your lost board was found today five miles off the coast in the west near the S buoy. It had some Mahi Mahi hiding underneath. DM me. Congrats on your win at Pipe and happy birthday champ!” he wrote in the message.

Slater replied in the comments: “Wow, amazing! Thank you. I almost drowned after losing her in Haleiwa, not fun but a great memory.”

He then reposted on his stories and said that a giant set ran over him, the leash plug broke, he almost drowned, and the board was never seen again.

He also said that this is the third board he has recovered from the sea.
