The fear he felt on the first trip was key to returning with friends, says Natxo
This is what the protagonists of Natxo's wave trip said
Little is known about the trip made by Natxo González, Aritz Aranburu, Aletxu Gironi, Adrián Fernández de Valderrama, the filmmaker Jon Aspuru and the creative director of Pukas, Marcos Azpiroz.
It is not known when it was, nor where it went. It is certainly not from these days (unless Natxo's Instagram stories in Ibiza are a montage).
What this new trip does act on is that the wave was not a one-time luck thing, a second time tubular, confirms that it is real like everything seen in the video.
In the video description and in the report sent by Natxo's press agency, he says that the fear he felt on that first trip was key to sharing the wave: “When I came for the first time with my great friend and filmer Jon Aspuru, I was scared at times. The wave breaks in shallow waters, we were completely alone. After catching a few waves I stopped surfing. Not because I was tired or because the waves had stopped, it was just very dangerous. There was no one, it's a long way to drive from the nearest town and even further from the nearest hospital.
That’s why I decided to take my best friends on the next big swell and it was completely different. It wasn’t just the angle, which made it a little bit easier, but having your friends with you makes you feel safer and more confident. And, as they say, sharing is caring.”
The rest of the participants of the trip did not spare praise and heartfelt memories of those days on the wave. "An unforgettable trip about what we love most," wrote Aritz Aranburu on Instagram. Meanwhile, Aletxu Gironi said he was "eternally grateful" to Natxo and the filmer Jon Bakio. Azpiroz also thanked them and added that he hopes to see that shot with them again (the one in the photo, in a tube, see below). Finally, Arián Fernández encouraged everyone to watch the video.
