Fifth time's the charm: A sequence of events that led to the fifth in line taking the win

Christopher Fondoderokish Herold was well positioned and had a little help from those higher up the point to take this gem.

Christopher "Fondoderokish" Herold was well positioned and had the complicity of the rest of the surfers in the lineup.

The one furthest out took the lead but closed the wave, the next one clipped the edge but couldn't complete the drop. The next one came down a little late, made the drop but lacked the speed to establish the line, the next one couldn't complete the drop, and finally Chris came down, flying with authority and pumping a crucial shot to establish his line.

And what a wave he rode: A perfect, higher, barrel-shaped first section, and a hollower, wider, second section that bit deep into the sand. He swerved a couple of times to get in with good timing and continued encapsulated in another incredible section.

A dream the waves that are breaking in this part of the world.
