The Secretary General of the Venezuelan Surfing Federation resigned
Beatriz Jaspe resigned from her post due to disagreements with the president caused by alleged administrative irregularities

The general secretary of the Venezuelan Surfing Federation (FVS), Beatriz Jaspe, resigned from her position through a letter to which DUKE had access and which is dated August 25. In this letter, the authority states that her decision responds to "disagreements with the actions of the president of this organization, citizen Thaina Luna."
Jaspe held that position since April 20, date on which the new Board of Directors that would govern Venezuelan surfing was officially established.
The letter became known almost a month later because, according to sources close to those involved, the president kept it secret since it seems that she and Jaspe were very close.
In the letter addressed to the Venezuelan Surfing Federation, the former general secretary details that the disagreements go hand in hand with: “Alleged administrative irregularities committed to the detriment of the Venezuelan Surfing Federation, and which she (Luna) asserts are normal and will continue to be so,” the document reads.
The secretary also specifically refers to a contract “processed clandestinely and behind the backs of all members of the federation, bypassing all legal administrative controls in this case, without a letterhead, without a signature by the beneficiaries, without the approval of the members of the Treasury,” Jasper asserts in the letter.
In this document, Thaina Luna, Leonardo Medina, Gerhard Weil and Alejandro Padrón appear signing a contract to which DUKE agreed to sponsor the University Championship, which is scheduled for December 8 and 9 and which closes for 500 US dollars (see below).
“Without further ado, I say goodbye to all the serious and decent people I met during my journey in this discipline of surfing,” Jaspe concludes his letter.
In contact with DUKE, FVS lawyer Ingrid Castro said that they will report Jaspe to the Prosecutor's Office because he extracted those documents without authorization.
This resignation comes a day after the complaint against President Luna made by promoter Pedro di Palma to the National Athletes Commission was made public (see more here).
On this particular issue, President Thaina Luna referred DUKE to her lawyer, Dr. Castro, who said: “As a legal professional, I cannot comment on the matter until I receive a formal response from the Comptroller Council, which is responsible for verifying and investigating the case to determine whether there was a failure or not.”
This is the second resignation of a member of this new Board of Directors, at the end of May 2018 the former vice president Ahmed Pérez resigned because he said he did not understand the board of directors.
