The Peruvian Surfing Federation (FENTA) received yesterday, Monday, from the hands of Lima 2019 and the companies that supported it, “the best high-performance center in the world,” at least that is what President Alberto Figari called it.

“The only one that has been specifically designed for the sport of surfing,” added the authority. Meanwhile, Carlos Neuhaus, former president of FENTA and now president of the Lima 2019 organization, explained that for him the event was “a dream come true.”

Although not yet 100% complete, the final project is expected to cost approximately $XNUMX million as previously reported when the tender was launched.

The project was paid for by several private companies through a tax benefit system created for the Pan American Games, allocating the tax payments to the construction of stadiums.

Located in front of the Peruvian surfing stadium, Punta Rocas, the center has a swimming pool, exercise rooms, stands for 750 people, a judges' platform, and will be completed with lodging, a restaurant, a skate park, and other accessories that place it at the forefront of the American landscape and ahead of the High Performance Center in Casuarina Beach, Australia.

“The Tabla family is pleased with this brilliant construction that will serve future generations. We have high expectations of medals at these Games and the team members have prepared for this level of challenge. We will feel more at home than ever on this great stage,” added President Figari.

One of the great stars of the Pan American Games, multiple world champion Piccolo Clemente, was present at the ceremony and said: “This center will allow surfing to develop in Peru, as it will not only allow us to prepare more qualified surfers from all the beaches in the country, but it will also be the setting for events and camps that generate income for our sport.”
