The Salvadoran surfing federation has selected the six surfers and a large technical team that will seek Olympic qualification in the historic first ISA World Surfing Games that will be held there and will take place between May 29 and June 6.

According to the El Salvador Sports Institute on its website, the selected players are Bryan Pérez, Porfirio Miranda, Samuel Arenivar, Evelyn Centeno, Vanessa Cortez and Brenda Álvarez.

Meanwhile, the members of the technical team are Marcelo Castellanos, Karlo Mejía, Dennis Sánchez, Arthur Philippi, Francisco Ide and Everto Amaral.

The team's formation was shaken by the tragic death of Katherine Díaz, who was killed by lightning when she was entering the water in La Bocana on March 20.

There was also a significant change in the technical direction of the team, as Venezuelan Antonio Sotillo, who was the national team's coach for a good part of 2020, left the team for unknown reasons.

The technical direction combines local and Brazilian coaches.

The team includes a young but already very experienced Bryan Pérez who won bronze in Lima 2019 and who was ranked in the top 2019 at the 35 ISA World Surfing Games in Japan.

It also has the local and very knowledgeable Porfirio Miranda of La Bocana and also the experienced Samuel Arenivar.

Among the ladies is the current Salvadoran champion, Evelyn Centeno, a goofy footer, owner of a good backside attack.
