Panamanians are going all out for medals and qualification for Santiago 2023

Panama announced yesterday the team that will defend the locals in the Pan American surfing championship in Santa Catalina, which will take place between April 21 and 30.

A strong squad, which mixes youth with experience, will be defending the colors of the Central American nation in its second consecutive Pan American tournament.

The 2022 edition of the same tournament was held in Playa Venao and had the Panamanians finishing in a historic sixth place as a team, with the men's open medal going to Jean Carlos Oli Camarena González, who is a local from Catalina and will have the opportunity to qualify for Santiago 2023 at home.

The last time an important international competition was held in Santa Catalina was in 2013, when the World Surfing Games were held that year, in which the young Oli Camarena won silver.
