The men's world title will be decided at Pipeline

Toledo reached the quarterfinals in Portugal and forced the final in the queen of the waves


Whether Gabriel Medina wins the MEO Rip Curl Pro in Portugal this week or not, the world title will be decided between December 8 and 20 at the Pipe Masters, the eleventh and final stage of the world tour, the WSL reported in the live broadcast of the event that is being contested in small waves at Supertubos.

Filipe Toledo beat Wade Carmichael in a close series and his passage to the quarterfinals makes it possible for him to catch Medina at Pipeline.

Medina has 48015 points and discards a 17, Toledo has 45730 and also discards a 17.

Toledo will now face the winner of the series between Kelly Slater and Kanoa Igarashi in the quarterfinals.

Medina, meanwhile, will go into the water in the round of 16 against his compatriot Caio Ibelli.
