The President of Costa Rica signed for Surfing Day and sent a video to Brisa

Central America has another young president who is betting heavily on surfing

In an event held at the national surfing stadium in Costa Rica, Playa Hermosa, Carlos Alvarado, the young president of Costa Rica, signed the law that establishes that the third Saturday of October will be surfing day in his country.

This also declares surfing a sport of public, tourist and national interest.

Several of the best surfers in Costa Rica were present at the event, including the best on the professional tour, Carlos Muñoz, and member of the national team, Jair Pérez.

One of the high points of the event was when the president himself and other authorities were invited to the Costa Rican power circle to give the cheer they do at tournaments.

Alvarado then filmed himself in a message to Brisa Hennessy, encouraging her in her challenges and informing her that surfing has its day. “We value everything that surfing does for the country, sport, health, tourism and culture of peace, and you represent that,” said the president.

“Costa Rica will celebrate National Surfing Day on the third Saturday of every October. In this way, we will promote this important sport for the country that has made us shine worldwide, we will promote the tourism industry for the benefit of local economies and sport as an instrument for social inclusion and development,” the president wrote on his Instagram.
