The generation that had missed out on the luxury of racing at Pipe since the QS ceased to exist in the queen of waves finally got it back and will be able to have that luxury.

Yesterday, the WSL announced that the penultimate challenger of the season will be on the queen of waves, and here's what five Spanish-speaking competitors who will be there had to say:

In addition to traveling to Indonesia every year, Sol Aguirre spent a lot of time at Teahupoo and Hawaii. Photo: ISA/Jimenez

“My reaction was to smile from ear to ear because I'm dying to compete at Pipeline. I'm so excited because I'll have the chance to ride that wave with four people in the water; it's an incredible opportunity and I'm super happy. It's so good that they put it there!”

Arena Rodríguez:

“I was excited. It's a super challenge. It was about time a wave of consequence hit the challengers. I have to train like I do for all the events, and with everything.”

Keoni Lasa:

I love the news, especially after spending a month there this winter.

The opportunity every grom is asking for is to be able to compete at Pipe, and it's finally here! We're the generation that has had the fewest opportunities with the new regional QS system. Before, there was the Volcom QS and everyone could compete, now it'll be amazing to be four in the water at Pipe!

Yago will be in Pipe

Awesome! Let's go for it, I hope it works out!

Adur Amatriain:

This was my reaction (laughs):
