These are the scenarios for the world title in Hawaii

Italo, Medina, Toledo, Lakey and Moore depend on themselves to win the title of champions, if they win, they take it

The MEO Rip Curl Pro left the women's and men's world title races very close. Five men have mathematical chances to go to Pipe and three women to Honolua.

Among the men, there are three who depend on themselves, that is to say that if they win the tournament, they are champions: Italo Ferreira, Gabriel Medina, and Filipe Toledo. The same happens between two women: Carissa Moore and Lakey Peterson.

If neither of them wins the tournament, the short difference between them comes into play and so do the mathematical chances of Kolohe Andino and Caroline Marks.

These are the scenarios for the ladies:

If Carissa wins, she takes the title. If Lakey wins, she takes the title too.

If Moore places third, Peterson will catch up with her in second place and Caroline Marks needs to win the event.

If Moore places fifth or worse, Peterson passes with placing third and Marks with placing second so they tie and there is a surf off.

These are the scenarios, for men

If Italo Ferreira, Gabriel Medina and Filipe Toledo win in Pipe, they will take the world title

If Ferreira finishes third then Medina will need a second and Toledo and Jordy Smith a first

If Ferreira places fifth, Medina needs a third, Toledo a second and Smith a first

If Ferreira places ninth, Medina will need a fifth, Toledo a third, Smith a second and Andino a first.

If Ferreira places 17th or 33rd, Medina and Toledo will need a ninth, Smith a fifth and Andino a second.
