The stars aligned on Wednesday in Punta de Lobos

Merello, Medina and other locals lived a dream day. "One of the most perfect days I have seen in Punta de Lobos," said the photographer of the article, Rodrigo Farías Moreno.

Last Monday was the first major swell of the season and it has already established itself as one of the best days of 2019, even though the season is just getting started. Solid waves of about four meters and some larger ones broke tubulars behind the swells throughout the day and drove those present to delirium.

Cristian Merello, Diego Medina, JC Carreño, Morris Tapia, Lucas Gonzaga, Piojo Navarro, Pancho Veliz were some of the lucky few who did not pay attention to the forecast and went into the water.

“We didn't have in mind that this swell was going to hit Punta de Lobos so nicely, it wasn't that big and a northerly wind was shown in the report, but the conditions were just right all day, one of the most perfect days I've seen in Punta de Lobos,” said the author of the photos in this article, Rodrigo Farías Moreno.

Cristian Merello was "far away" from the swell, says Farías. "He went in and was alone for a long time, he surfed all day and got some tubes behind the hills, which were unfilmable," he added.

Merello did bring his GoPro and posted some shots on his Instagram, with the caption: "Just thankful for having this great moment with nature."

Another who took some tubes was Diego Medina, the current champion of the Ceremonial, who was once again well synchronized with the waves of his spot.

“The waves were incredible that day. There were few people in the water., Just some local friends and I remember seeing Merello super early riding some really good waves. I came in a little later, The sea had been a bit rough but once inside it settled down again and we were able to surf the best session of the start of the season with some local friends,” said Medina.

“There were good tubes and waves with very good shape and very demanding drops,” he said.

"We didn't expect this swell to hit Punta de Lobos so well, it wasn't that big and the report showed a northerly wind," said Rodrigo Farías. Punta de Lobos defied the forecasts and brought one of the most perfect days in recent years. JC Carreño, in the photo, took advantage of the perfection.

Brazilian Lucas Gonzaga has spent a lot of time at Punta de Lobos, which has been rewarded with waves like the one in the photo.
Even though it may seem like it, and even if you look at it 150 times, it is not a painting inside a house. It is real.
