Tube of the month: Adrián García on a northern train
"I felt it was a 10, they gave me a 9,5 but I'm sticking with the tube," said the surfer.
The fourth date of the Peruvian national circuit had these epic waves (more information here). Adrián García took this tube that he described in the following way:
"The forecast was that he wasn't going to be that good and we were surprised by how good he was during the championship.
The tide was coming in, the sea was incredible, just before that wave I had caught another incredible one that didn't let me get out of the tube and I said to myself: 'If another one like this comes, I'll get it no matter what', and I got this one right there, and at the beginning I got in a little late and as you can see in the video it bubbled up a bit and that gave me room to put in one more pump and get through that difficult section, it opened up and the tube got a little difficult, several curtains fell that threw me off balance a little.
Inside the tube I lost faith twice: At the beginning and after passing the first section where a curtain fell on me and I said to myself “this is it” and then I kept moving forward and it threw another section at me that I also thought would not get me out, and I crossed it all too.
From the inside, I felt it like a 10, anyway. And no, it was an incredible wave! I won with that wave, I felt it 10, they gave me a 9,5 but I'll stick with the tube."
