The ultimate guide to waxing your surfboard, by Kelly Slater

His manual, his way of doing it, after eleven world titles; detailing brands and types of wax; hint: He uses three different types from three different brands

The greatest of all time, Kelly Slater, shared in the latest episode of Stab in the Dark how he waxes his surfboard.

And the technique is not as simple as just grabbing a paraffin stick and passing it to the board, like everyone else does.

It's worth remembering that when Stab in the Dark was filmed, the water was relatively nice, Slater wore a lot of shorts and a jacket, and the people in the lineup were either like him in a light wetsuit.

It's rather complex:

-Step 1: Base coat, Sticky Bumps brand: To make the marks

-Step 2: Fu Wax green paraffin, “Summer cold”, as described above. Warm but a jacket is needed.

He doesn't put too much on it "so that it doesn't get slippery," that's what he says (strange).

-Step 3: Green Sex Wax, the cool one, so that it doesn't grab your foot and stick, like a slug.

“There are three layers that then become a hard layer on top again,” he explains.
