The waiting period for the historic big wave tournament in Galicia has opened
24 of the best tow-in teams in the world are expected to be present at the Illa Pancha Challenge
The giant wave of Illa Pancha in Galicia will host, for the first time in history, a big wave event, specifically the Illa Pancha Challenge that will bring together 24 of the best tow-in teams in the world, the organization reported in a press release.
Rumours of giant waves in Galicia have been circulating in the surfing community for several years. This event, organised by, among others, Brazilian and French surfer Eric Ribiere, shows that what was being said was true.
With the start of the year, the waiting period for waves of at least seven metres began and will last until the end of March.
The list of participants has not yet been made public, but the announcement states that they will be the best 24 teams in the world. The format and duration of the event are also unknown.
