After a week of flats that seemed to have no end, yesterday afternoon the wind began to blow from the south on the Uruguayan coast, announcing the arrival of a southeast swell that will bring more than acceptable conditions for the Corona Longboard Festival that will take place tomorrow, Thursday, January 6.

Event director, the legendary Luisma Iturria, told DUKE what to expect tomorrow: “Although summer is a time when there aren't many waves, there is always a small swell that comes in with surprising waves and in this case we have a swell from the south that came in yesterday, with wind and waves, choppy seas, typical of Uruguay.

The swell direction for tomorrow is good, it is favorable. The forecasts indicate a one-meter wave, the tide is high, the direction of the waves, from the southeast, is ideal for Bikini Beach, this is something very favorable and to that we must add a nice period.

And the wind will be from the east, increasing as the day goes on. This is also good for that beach because it is quite sheltered from the wind in that sector.

So tomorrow we expect acceptable to optimal conditions, nice for the championship. Surely the wave will work from the bottom to the bottom, connecting with the inside which has a sandy bottom and we will all see a nice show from the longboarders who will surely be very happy to put on their lycra again and celebrate at this longboard festival with Corona.”
