The 27-year-old Costa Rican surfer Kevin Kirby, much loved by the Costa Rican community, was found dead at the edge of a river, according to several media outlets in the country that was shaken by the news.

Kevin had been missing since Sunday afternoon when he stopped answering messages around 17:30 p.m., and family and friends began sharing messages to try to locate him.

Today, a homeless man found the body and alerted authorities, who reported that he had injuries on various parts of his body.

Several members of the surfing community have expressed their condolences, highlighting Kevin's human qualities.

“This is heartbreaking news. Fly high, my Kirby, I love you so much,” Carlos Muñoz wrote on his social media. He added: “Life is fragile, let's take good care of ourselves, nothing material is more important in life. Let's be aware, God is above and sees everything. Much strength to my friends, family, and acquaintances. Sending you a hug.”
