The guest list for this season's Eddie Aikau does not include any Latin American surfers, according to the tournament's official website. There is one Latin American, the Brazilian Lucas Chianca, and, if we consider the substitutes, the Colombian Isabella Gómez is third in the women's category.

It took several years for this to happen, since Chilean Ramón Navarro, who was in the top 5 of the event and won the award for the biggest wave in the 2009 edition, was invited to the last editions.
