There are no Hispanics on Eddie's roster, neither in the main roster nor in the substitutes.

Neither Ramón, nor Gabriel, nor Natxo. The members for the 2019-2020 season were revealed; the big news is the female presence and a series of legends

The organisers of the traditional event in memory of Eddie Aikau have made public the list of guests who, if the sea turns giant, will be competing in the 2019-2020 edition.

No Latin American or Spanish surfer is on the tournament roster. In the past, Ramón Navarro (who made the podium and surfed one of the best waves in the history of Waimea) had been on the starting roster, and Gabriel Villarán and Ibon Amatriain were on the alternate roster.

The big news on this year's list is the presence of four women as starters: Keala Kennelly, Andrea Moller, Paige Alms and Emily Erickson.

A Legends Series was also announced, featuring Derek Ho, Garrett McNamara, Jeff Clark, Mike Ho, Mike Parsons, Peter Mel and Tom Carroll, with the winner receiving 150.000 Hawaiian Airlines miles.

Below are all the regular guests and their substitutes:

The Eddie Aikau Memorial Event is one of the most traditional in history, even though it has been held nine times in over 30 years. This is because the condition for it to take place is that the sea be at a solid 20 Hawaiian feet, “just like Eddie would go,” is the saying.

In recent years, the Aikau family failed to reach an agreement with the brand sponsoring the event and therefore decided to part ways. The event was in doubt but finally the surfer's family got the permits and will hold the event if the waves come.

Eddie Aikau was a legendary Hawaiian lifeguard and surfer who died in 1978 while trying to rescue the crew of the Mokuleia after an accident while traveling from Hawaii to Tahiti, imitating what the ancient Polynesians did.
