There is a yellow alert for the Punta Galea Challenge

A very encouraging forecast is encouraging us to see the Basque surf breaking in all its splendor next Sunday, November 4th.

The Punta Galea Challenge is on yellow alert for a possible event on Sunday, November 4, the tournament organizers reported in a press release.

“The weather forecast announces favorable winds, northwest sea direction (ideal for Punta Galea), very high periods around 18 seconds, which increase the consistency of the wave, a swell that will grow throughout the day and  a favorable tide,” the statement said.

And he continued: “Neap tides are in our favour, as is the high tide which will be at midday, perfect for Punta Galea. All of this means that we can expect fantastic waves of around six metres for the 13th edition of the big wave championship.”

Local experts and sites specializing in wave forecasting agreed with what was said, they say, and now they are waiting for it to be confirmed.

The Punta Galea Challenge was for a few years a stop on the WSL Big Wave World Tour. After the global organization decided to stop doing the tournament, it returned to its local roots, with independent organization.
