The authorities of the Pico Alto International Tournament announced today that the event has been put on yellow alert for a possible event to take place next Saturday, July 7. A powerful swell from the south is traveling towards the Punta Hermosa district and everything indicates that it could bring about the legendary Peruvian big wave of the size that the tournament requires.

After no longer being considered part of the big wave world tour, the event took its own independent path, in the same way as the Punta de Lobos Ceremonial, the Punta Galea Challenge and the Puerto Escondido Cup.

The guest list for the event includes international names Twiggy Baker, Ramón Navarro, Cristian Merello, Damien Hobgood, Torrey Meister, Felipe Cesarano, Bradley Norris and Nahuel Amalfitano.

And to the locals Toto from Romagna, Alejo Loret de Mola, Jaime Venegas, Miguel Tudela, Sebastian Correa, Gabriel Villaran, Jeronimo Castagnetto, Jose Gomez, Joaquin del Castillo, Gustavo Reategui, Kodiak Semsch, Cristobal de Col, Carlos Mario Zapata, Joaquin Castagnetto, Luis Gomez de la Torre, Gustavo Swayne and Martin Jeri.

The final decision will be made on Tuesday night as to whether to give the green light or return to waiting.

The event will award $17.000 in prizes.
