There was a tube show by Guillermo Satt and Douglas Silva on day 5 at El Gringo
It was the best day of the championship in Arica, several tubes broke the records of the previous days
Guillermo Satt and Douglas Silva were the surfers of the day today on day 5 of the Arica Pro Tour, with the former surfing the best wave of the tournament and the latter making the best sum.
Satt surfed two waves in his heat, and both were high-scoring waves: In the first, he went straight into a giant barrel, receiving a 7,5, and in the second, in addition to being a giant barrel, it was longer and deeper. He received a 9,77, and one judge even gave him 10 points, finishing the heat with a total score of 17,27.
With the sea working perfectly and consistently at that time of the morning, in the previous series it was Douglas Silva who had a different approach: He surfed five waves and in all five he got good barrels. His two best waves were two big and deep barrels in which he scored 9,07 and 8,93.
The first round of 16 series were held and four Brazilians were guaranteed a place in the top 8: Ian Gouveia, Rafael Texeira, Vitor Ferreira and Heitor Muller.
There were also good performances from Miguel and Tomás Tudela, who advanced together in their series, and Ian Gouveia, who scored more than 15 points.
At around 10:00 the onshore wind came in and the championship was stopped.
In the live broadcast they are evaluating whether to continue with the pre-established format, with quarterfinals, semi-finals and final man to man or whether to change to having the decisions be made with series of four people. In the first scenario there would be nine series left to be played and in the second, five.
Round of 16, these two series remained to be played:
S3: Tomás Tudela vs Samuel Igo vs Douglas Silva vs Cristobal de Col
S4: Guillermo Satt vs Miguel Tudela vs Gabriel Klaussner vs Lucas Silveira
