There will be a tournament at Mavericks this season
It will be a video and photography competition that will award five categories

Mavericks will finally have its surfing championship this season, although it will not be like the one planned for the WSL or like the one that was done with the Titans of Mavericks.
The wave's discoverer Jeff Clark has launched a championship format similar to that of Surfline's winter wave, in which he will award the best male performance, the best female performance, the biggest wave, the best wave and the best tube. Each category will have cash prizes and 10% will go to the photographer or filmmaker, reported the American website The Inertia today.
The collection period for materials runs from November 1 to April 15, and the awards ceremony will take place in May 2020.
The only criteria for qualifying is that the wave is completed, said Jeff Clark, adding: “Our mission is to celebrate Mavericks and support the men and women who dedicate their lives to surfing this incredible place.”
She added: “When the WSL decided to cancel the tournament it was another sign that times have changed and we have to change as well. The logistics and politics of doing a one-day event make it incredibly difficult. This is an opportunity to rewrite the script, leave it to pure surfing and not interfere with the athletes who want to go out there and freesurf for the pure joy of it.”
