Lucca Mesinas' victory in his heat yesterday and Alonso Correa's second place in his today placed both Peruvians in the same round of 24 surfers series, in which they will face the American Cam Richards in the Challenger 1 of the season, the US Open.

Two out of three make it to the round of 4 or round 16 or round of 2000, giving a significant jump in the number of points; from having 4 guaranteed, those who make it to round 3500 are assured of 5000 points. If they make it through one more they would already have XNUMX points.

Both Lucca and Alonso have a good score behind them for the CT qualification because the best stage of 2020 will count. The one from Máncora has 2500 for fifth place in the event in China and the one from Villa 4000 for second place in Morocco.

With three stages left in Portugal, France and Hawaii, the two Peruvians have already taken an important step towards a historic male qualification for a Peruvian to the CT, and at least one of the two will continue on in Huntington Beach.

The series is expected to take place tomorrow morning, Friday.
