At least not under the supervision of the WSL.

There will be no Peahi Challenge this 2024-2025 season, at least not under WSL supervision, the organization announced on its website.

“The WSL regrets to inform that this season’s Pe’ahi Big Wave event will not take place. The WSL has not received the necessary land license to operate the event, making it impossible to move forward at Pe’ahi for the 2024-2025 season,” the WSL website explained.

The event has not been held for a few years. It was announced last season but the ideal day for it to take place was not found.

The WSL adds: “We look forward to the Nazaré Big Wave Challenge, with the participation window now open from Friday, November 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025.”

With this, big wave paddle surfing receives a slap in the face in the WSL sphere, especially with the creation of a parallel big wave tour, the Big Wave Alliance.
