The top 64 of the Héroes de Mayo Iquique Pro were decided today on the waves of La Punta, which became smaller and more orderly and neat, providing more opportunities for surfers.
The best performance of the day was by Brazilian Samuel Igo de Souza, who in addition to landing a good tube combined good backside maneuvers on the right.
He was followed by Argentine Facundo Arreyes who added 13 points thanks to a 9, the best wave of the day, which he got with 30 seconds left in the series and when he needed 4,2 to pass.
Arreyes waited for about seven minutes with priority and waited for a deep and long tube to come to receive a 9 from the judges that he backed up with a 4 and moved into first place. He left Guille Satt in second, Lucas Wrice in third and Maxime Dos Anjos in fourth.
The Argentinean, who stopped competing in the final of the final stage of the Argentine tour, said that in the last minutes he was thinking about whether that had been the right decision. But he said that he had faith and the blow of passage ended up coming.
The junior series were held (we will update on these shortly.
