Special coverage of surfing in Lima 2019 is presented by Quiksilver Peru y Surf School Tubes 

The official panel of judges for the Lima 2019 surfing event has just been revealed at the technical meeting currently taking place in the athletes' lounge at the Punta Rocas high-performance centre.

According to a participant in the meeting, the meeting is as follows:

Mauro Achiame from Brazil
Dan Kosoof from New Zealand
Borja Echeverria from Spain
Bruno Truch from France
Jose Luis de Anda from Mexico

The list has a significant reduction in Latin American judges compared to previous Pan American surfing competitions, considering the entire history of the event, something that DUKE previously knew was a rumor circulating among judges in the region. Some sources indicated that at times there was talk of not having American judges to avoid bias.

The measure was intended to respond to the numerous complaints that there were from different federations, especially in the last two Pan American Games, which DUKE learned about through statements from several federations.

It is not at all common to see judges from outside the region at an event like this. According to the calculations made by DUKE, there were no judges from Oceania or Europe at the last Pan American Games.

In a previously prepared document, which DUKE had access to, it was reported that the priority judges would be Fabiano Farías from Brazil and Tim Manno from the United States.

In that same document it was detailed that the person in charge of Stand Up Paddle will be Geoff Bryant.

As with all ISA-supervised events, the event director is Marcos Bukao Esmanhoto.
