These are the scenarios for the definition of the title in Pipe

Medina is one step ahead, but it is still a tight race

Gabriel Medina is the only surfer who depends on himself to win the 2018 world surfing title at Pipe between December 8 and 20.

The scenarios reported by the WSL are as follows:

-If Medina places first or second, the title is guaranteed.
-If Medina places third, Wilson and Toledo need to win the championship
-If Medina places fifth or worse, Wilson and Toledo need to get into the grand final.

To put it another way, if Wilson and Toledo don't make it to the grand final and Medina loses by one, the title goes to Medina.

Everything is in favour of the São Paulo native who just finished third in Portugal.
